Question for those who know

Post by Nimrod »

Has anyone ever heard of a Winchester 94 with a twist rate of 1: 11.5 inches? I have a barrel that I am thinking of using to change one of my carbines into a rifle. It is (I hope) a 26" Centennial barrel and I have checked it twice. the twist rate is one full twist in 11.5 inches.

Well within "tolerances" 30/30's had either 1-10" or 1-12" twist. Thats less than 5% deviation. I'm sure there is few people that could explain it better than I did.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

Thanks. I didn't think about tolerances!
