Flintlock fixed.
Back in the fall a mainspring snapped on one of my flintlocks.
I fixed it via welding but it was not as reliable so I ordered a new spring from a Pedersoli importer and this week it arrived.
With a little fitting here and there the lock was back to its old self. Naturally I wanted to test it. I thought I was going to get a fox after spying one in the timber and successfully calling it in! However when I lost sight of it in a draw I failed to check my six and sure enough when I did it was less than 20yds away! Busted
So after that I just stalked wabbit.
The new spring lights up the pan a treat!

Congrats on the repair. I've had coyote do the same thing. In the high desert here you can see them coming then the disappear into an arroyo. Next hing you know they've sneaked up behind you. Had one do that then start it's little bark. I swear it was laughing at me.

Nath, do you or have you used the sparks from rifle to light charcloth or a fire?
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Re: Flintlock fixed.
It's Pedersolis version of a trade gun, not quite historically correct. They call it the Indian Trade musket or something Iike that.

I used to have one of these reproduction flintlock tinder lighters, apart from a 20: pound trigger pull it worked fine.
