I realize this may have been covered thousands of times here......
I have just gotten a 20" stainless 1894 in 44mag.
I would like to shorten it to 16" (and the mag would have to also) and add some ghost ring sights, maybe add a larger lever, clean up this gritty action.
Suggestions, recommendations, gunsmith suggestions, ideas, all are appreciated!!
Thanks!
Suggestions on shortening a 1894........

scout308,
Welcome to the forum.
I can't help with the barrel shortening myself, but I can recommend our own Nate Kiowa Jones, aka Steve Young. He's our resident lever gun gunsmith.

As far as smoothing up the action, first take the carbine apart and clean it thoroughly and lube it. Then go shoot it. You'll be surprised at how fast shooting it with real ammo will smooth it up.
