Possible to restore pre-2009 1895

Post by Leverguy59 »

Hey,

Looking for some expert advice, just figured out this is a pre-2009 1895.

Haven’t found any of the old screws that I can swap. I looked on a ton of sites. It’s all the Remington version. Anyone know where I can get one? Worst case how to sand then reblue?

Any ideas on repairing the stock? Or how to refinish it? where to buy a replacement?

Hey thanks, but I made the same mistake.

Everything they have is for the Remington Marlin, I need the pre-2009 Marlin version of that

The stock screw is different? I would not have thought that.

Ya same here man,

I ordered from Midwest gun and they sent me to numrich, but I guess they’ve been out of stock since July.

That’s kind of why I wanted to restore the screw maybe sand it and re-blue. Just not sure how

Same with the stock. I think it’s real wood - it looks like it when I take it off. It I don’t know anything about refinishing. So I don’t want to screw it up. I was hoping there was a “guy” people use for that.

I am not "that guy". However, it is a standard gunsmithing task to remove buggered screws, put them in a jewelers block or vice, peen them back into shape with a punch and file a new slot. That screw definitely needs a deeper slot.
