.35 Rem. plinking load for the Marlin

Post by Bill in Oregon »

Was rummaging around the loading bench last night and rediscovered some boolits I had cast with the Lee 358-158 RF mold for a.38 Special I no longer own. That put me on the trail of load data for this bullet in the .35 Remington and I found this excellent resource:http://www.gmdr.com/lever/lowveldata.htm.
Dies should be here today, and when they arrive I think I will try the 6 grains of Bullseye load which gave the load developer just under 1200 fps. Also have Unique, Universal, Red Dot and Trail Boss at hand, so I am sure I can find a cooperative load if the Bullseye doesn't pan out. Anyone else teetered down this trail?

I've had good luck with Unique in those kinds of loads, but your Bullseye should work just as well.
I have the Ranch Dog mold he designed for the 35 Remington if you'd like to try some of those too I'll send you some.

Bill the Lyman Cast Bullet book has loads for Red Dit and Unique if you want a few. Think I could find it fairly quick.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

Ted, gracious, but let me try these Lee pills first.
Todd, don't go to any trouble. I am sure I can find those loads online over at Castboolits.
Not looking for speed, just accuracy.

I was using 10 or 11grains of Red Dot with a 270gr. 377 in my 375 H&H, NO recoil ( unlike 80 of cfe223- um, OUCH) and quite accurate. Ive gotta try some 235 cast next.

150gr with red dot is 8.5grs start, 11.0grs max 1390-1615 fps.....

Unique is 9.5grs start, 12.5grs max 1370-1665 fps...

Lyman Cast bullet Handbook 3rd Edition is my source.

Tossing my hat in this thread. I tried the Hunters Supply 190 but gave up trying to get it to shoot well from my 35.
