Navy arms martini rifle

Post by barbarossa »

Just found this for sale a navy arms martini rifle in 45/70.I would love to add it to my collection though if I bought it I think I would shorten the barrel to 26 inches and possibly have the barrel turned half round to lighten the gun up for hunting

Very cool!

I was at a show a few years ago and was looking one over, though it didn't have a case hardened receiver. I put it down for a few minutes to think about it and when I went back to buy it, it was gone.

Can't have enough 4=.45-70 single shots!

B: I agree with your barrel assessment. The current configuration would be fine for a target rifle, but you'd need an NFL lineman to lug that thing for you in the hunting fields.

I had a rifle like that many years ago. It was a real shooter as I recall.

Very nice! Is that a variation of the Francotte action? Not sure I have seen one quite like it before, especially with that sideplate.
