Hey guys, here is another video of my friend Camp Cook in Canada who recently took that huge brown bear. I thought this bit of bolt-gun quick draw was pretty impressive! Yehah! I think he should change his name to the Canadian Cowboy!
Ahhh my friend show you a link and what do you do.
Thanks for thinking that my shooting is good enough to post here.
kimwcook I'll let you in on a little secret that I discovered about 15 years ago it is...
Kick-Eez recoil pads http://www.kickeezproducts.com/index.php they absorb recoil better than any other pad on the market, they are made of a material called Sorbathane that absorbs/distributes the recoil over a wider area of your shoulder.
Every heavy recoil rifle I own has one on it.
After a day of shooting even with the heavy recoiling rifles that I am shooting in the vid clips my shoulder is fine my neck isn't but my shoulder is.
I like that technique....
I have used that in the field while stalking in the
turkey woods....a couple of times....and missed!...
shot right over the top!
also a few times on deer,
but never pulled the trigger...
In my case there isn't anyone behind me and this method shouldn't be used if there ever was.
But thanks for pointing it out for others this is a safety issue and I am totally guilty of breaking the 180 line.
The reason for the vid clips was that on another forum I was in a discussion where I was saying I'd use a firearms over pepper spray and others would use pepper spray.
They were saying they could get the spray out faster than anyone could shoulder a rifle and accurately shoot a bear.
No one continued to argue after I posted the vid clip links...

You can also sling the rifle on your off shoulder, upside down with the for end pointing forward. You grasp the for end with your forward hand and mount the rifle on your shoulder. This is also quite fast, and the muzzle is either pointed at the ground or down range. Might want to cover the muzzle with electricians tape to keep debris out.
Been there done that with that carry method (I believe it is called African carry) and just about every other method I know about or could come up with.
I'm just not as fast with that method and as I stated above I was trying to show anti's how fast a person can mount and shoot a long gun...
I used to do the African carry method a lot until I slipped on a mountain goat hunt and stuck my barrel into the mud since then I keep my barrel up.
Since I did these videos I've been thinking about doing a Youtube video series where I use all of the different carry methods for newbie shooters/hunters to learn from without having to take an expensive firearms course.
Wish there was someone that had done this when I was learning how to hunt/shoot.
As Tom Selleck said in the movie Quigley Down Under "didn't say I didn't know how too use it said I didn't have a use for it"...
