Nice looking rifle and I bet it will shoot just fine. :)
But did you not consider a Tang Sight on that particular rifle? :?

Tang?

I didn't want to drill any holes in my gun. There are factory holes for the Receiver Sight. However, I may change my mind some day because the Williams does detract from the receiver's looks.

B-lever,
Yes, I too would be reluctant to drill such a fine rifle in case I did not get on with the tang sight.

What you did is certainly the best way to go to not diminish the rifle's value. I agree that it doesn't look as beautiful as the rifle but they do work well.

game keeper: The 71, especially in the carbine has a pretty good bark to it. I wouldn't want a tang sight on it even if one did fit without alterations. I have tang sights on most of my rifles but not on the ones that are heavy kickers. I started with a tang on my EL but with heavy hunting loads, my glasses (and eye right behind it) were in too much jeopardy.

Leverluver, Good point I've never fired a 71 carbine or rifle so I didn't know about how much they kicked. Anyway the rifle is for hunting more than looking at!
