OT WARNING: HIGH CUTE FACTOR! newborns in the yard
just got home from the hospital infusion center for my six hour long intravenous infusion for a genetic immune deficiency and was tired and a bit weary but looked out the window into the yard and saw this, a bit uplifting to say the least:
and cutest of all:
and cutest of all:

Hey those guys are brand new!
Sometimes a guy just gets stopped and smacked on the head with one of nature's real wonders.
They look big enough to fit on bread to me...

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

yes, she is probably 3 years old? for years now, we have this scene in our yard each spring; i suspect that each of these cows is the daughter of the previous matron and was born here herself. once my son saw them born as she was actually laying against the side of the house in a small alcove, and somewhere he has the video.Grizz wrote:That's beautiful Cable
Is that a young cow? How common are twins? It's hard to believe they start out that small.
also twins are the usual, although they are occasionally triplets.
i have never known the cow to get thru the summer without losing on the twins probably to a bear or wolf. have seen the bears chase them thru our yard. good thing they are twins or the moose would soon be nearly extinct. their numbers are way down as it is, due to overpopulation of bears and wolves.

i think so, and that young boy is much more energetic and rambunctious already than his sister; i predicted one of them was a boy in the first few minutes of watching them!AkRay wrote:Looks like at least one of those calves has a spot for antlers to grow some day.
