If you gave me one of those, and a bunch of twine, I still wouldn't have any rope.....

Looks like something that requires the additions of some brains and labor to make it work.

Thanks for the link to that old silent film. I had seen it somewhere some time back and forgot all about it.
There's just something inspiring about men who knew how to make really good, useful gear -- and knew how to use it well.
Kind of lets me out ...

I don't have a lot of uses for 4' ropes, so I'll probably keep buying mine in 100' lengths. ;)

Vall, I think that was just an "inside the kitchen" demo, hence the short length to illustrate the principle.
Have you ever been to the Maritime Museum in Astoria? They used to have a really serious rope-making machine there.

We made a 50 foot hay mow rope that`s 1-1/4 in diameter. :)

We`re setting up the big rope maker we made and will be making a rope soon but rain in the forcast for a week, heck snowed today. :roll:
