Woohoo!!! 4000 posts on one "topic"!!

Jay my hands are fine, its Tom that made himself leak vital fluids... although I need to do some wrenching on my BEAST, but its easy- steering stabilizer has sprung a leak.
I haven't made it to the Dakota's yet but if I do I'm probably going to grow roots! My kinda country... lots of birds to kill!

Jack if nothing else your BAR will distract the other guys and maybe you'll win. Those 150s will maybe help with marginal hits too! Oh and chiropractic is the ONLY way to go! I go weekly for adjustments & swear by it.

Dang Gunny....ya see how fast that bear grabbed it? I'm just imagining sitting on an inner tube with my nuts hanging down in the hole and that bear coming up and snatching them right off....gone in 1/2 of a second......after growing them for 64 years.----6

Jay...be careful in Montana...very cliquish out there.......they think like Texans as if they are the best in the world. :D ---6

No worries here OW.

Yeah Six that bear would make a great cold weather retriever for duck & goose hunting but just how to train it to deliver a bird to hand without loosing your hand?!

Montana has too many Hollyweird escapees!

Jay,

More than likely you will.......it's not like the old days of horse and rider....they now have telephones ☎️ that can call ahead so you better hide Wild Bills death chair.

As your from Maine with it's clean air you probably do not notice any difference in the air out West......but when I go out there I notice it big time............I can inhale more deeply.....love it.

FW....how's your hand? Pitchy has a big vise, acetylene torch and a 32 ounce ball peen hammer in the workshop if you want the other side to match up.

Oh SHYT! More F ing rain and low pressure systems tomorrow....two waves of it.......over an inch......and then in another two days more F F F ing rain. My tinnitus is so bad it sounds like a million crickets are in my head....for real, no BS.....even with my hearing aids on I can barely hear myself talk.....oh well.....lifetime of shooting with little protection........never did use much protection.....probably why I'm like Old Savage with 428 kids floating around the country. Haha I hear you Six! Don't worry, Kristy keeps reminding me. Yeah, I don't notice it really. I will say, I do notice the sky is bigger like they say. I can't get over how FAR you can see. I can see why it's hard judging distance. It's beautiful out here. It is home too, but very different. Woods are SO much thicker home. Never saw so much grass (not the kind you smoke). :D

We are making the trip with our son, daughter in law, year old grandson, a good friend of theirs, and a Great Dane. Both the Dane and the baby are the best behaved of the bunch. Having a blast.

Devils tower! There is a joke amongst the rock climbers at DT, people drive around the bottom looking for the elevator, they ask the climbers where it is. Climber says Oh it's on the north side! So people drive over to the north side and ask a climber there- no it's on the east side. They drive around and around trying to find the elevator. Buddy of mine watched the same car do this for hours once.

OW the west is where my heart is, got family in Idaho, I cant go visit cuz I wont come back! Enjoy the sights- hope you get to see some buffalopes!!

The East is where my heart is Gunny......as far as scenery is concerned.....the people are another story........

I've spent a fair amount of time in the Rockies and while it is indeed beautiful, there's too much "brown" you have to look at. The sky is BIG for sure. I've always like the rolling hills of Pennsylvania with all of its "green" from many different species of trees from April to pretty much the beginning of December..........besides, I could not mentally handle their long winters out West and nothing but pine trees and quacking aspens.

I've never seen the Pacific Northwest but I hear it is also beautiful.---6

I do love our trees here but I despise the leaves when they fall! I spent my summers at my grandmother's in Woodfords CA. I have always loved the sage brush country for as long as i can remember. Plus there ain't nothing like a fresh prarie dog town and a pile of ammo just waiting to be shot up!

Made it to Cody last night. Took a stroll through town and stopped at the local brewery. Picked up a few growlers, kicked back and shot the bull.
The ride down from Billings was beautiful. Saw some places for sale. If I had my buddy Six's money I'd buy a couple. :D
Will try and check in later with some pics fellas.

You passing through Jackson Hole, Wy.?...one horse town..........There's a bar there called the Silver Dollar and the whole bar is studded with silver dollars. The seats at the bar are saddles....beers were like $5......20 years ago....... gunshop there too but that was a long time ago.---6.

I switched off with my son for the first time today. After hanging out in Cody with the gang, he and I took a scouting trip up to Yellowstone. I drove back.
Threw some snowballs at the dog. Took a thousand pictures that don't do a justice. If you look close in one, you can see a 105mm they use for avalanche control.

I don't like this Levergun "spell check" for bad words. I wrote to Pitchy that his gutter spout was a "p i s s e r" and it came out "sad thing".

Anyway, it's FRIDAY and the BIG MATCH is tomorrow....the BAR's gunclub "match debut".....

(Hey! Everyday is a Friday to me). In fact I can make anyday of the week what I want it to be.

Think I'll head down to Millers Sporting Goods in Linwood, Pa today to do some BS'en. I should stock up on primers as the price is down but shyt, I already have at least 30-40K laying around....ahh maybe another 8 pounder of H-4895.

Jay and the "Northeast to Extreme Northwest" caravan is probably rolling along, smoking along at 85 mph.

Yea....those guys back in the day worked. My inlaws dairy barn was put together in 1912 with pegs....still have a few of the pegs around here.

I bet even with that machine you have there Pitchy, it was still serious work.

Maybe with a bit of ingenuity, you can add rails to it and a few more gears and turn it into a milling machine. ---6

Thanks Lenn! I've never seen one of those work.

Pitchy...that baby is in perfect working order.........thanks for the demo....like I said, it was still work.......imagine doing 50 of those a day in boiling hot sun.

Like Gunny says, be careful......you don't need another hole in "one eyed Pete".----6

Oh! Terrible day today with the BAR......I shot a miserable 16 x40 .....the gun shot fine...I just had a hell of a time staying on the steel targets with no back rest and the 12 pound trigger pull that's about a mushy 1/4" long. The steel animals are maybe 2 MOA so there's not much room for error in the movement of the sight picture.........mirage was terrible with the wind picking up halfway through the match.

But dang...we all had a blast.....my BIL with the 224 Valkyrie with a perfect trigger did the same as me..a 16....my mentor and friend gunsmith, who is 73 yo shot a 27 with a 6mm Remington. BIG turnout....4 relays.......I farted on the match directors son, Mike.....a kid about 28....he thanked me for the "warmth" and was a bit disappointed that he did not have a plastic bag to save some of it. He said he always wanted to fart in a bag, tie it up and then trick his girlfriend into taking a whiff of it. ---6

Pitchy, that works great. Did you say it was made in 1912? Gunshow in Brainerd next weekend.

Oldwin, i really miss the open road. I stayed home this winter so am getting restless.

Six, how did the other shooters like your BAR, you should do a video of it.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

250 Savage: The Original short action, compact, high velocity cartridge.

Ah gee wizz- I was really hoping you were going to clean house Six... Did you at least get the WOW factor we were all hoping for? Are you going to do your 1:7 22-250 like you have been thinking about? You should start bagging your exhaust, might be a market for it, girlfriends, wives, fumigation of buildings, terrorist interrogations, could be a money maker!

I'm going to go try ZZ Birds today. It simulates live pigeons with plastic/metal targets. Not looking forward to 170 miles round trip tho!

So Pitch are you going to build a barn for your tractor now that you have your beam drill?

Thanks Six and sorry ya had a bad shoot, i was hoping for a vid also of the BAR rolling off a few.
Todd by the research if done all i can find is Swan made his first model around 1870 with improvements after that.
My guess is it was made before 1900 though.
Gunny i`ve been thinking about something to make with it, always wanted to make one of those tables that are pegged together thing is i don`t have any room for it.
Hope ya have a good shootin day.
Jay must be roaming around the Cody museum he`s MIA.

Hit the Cody museum yesterday. What a place! They are remodeling the firearms section so some was still shut off. Not much, as they are almost done. It was awesome to see! Got to the Irma Hotel yesterday too. Cool place.
Back on the road today.......
