#1 Post by rossim92 » Sun Sep 16, 2018 4:36 am

new shop me by named GLP Enterprise. they buy, sell, trade and consignment guns. My son bought what look like by his text picture apperas too be an ak style reciever but rest looks like a 12 guage shotgun clip and barrel. I might check em out today. i'm looking to trade in a n remington 700 bdl in .17 hmr for an new or good shape used winchester 1873 in the 44-40. i looked on gunbroker and some of the older 70's era bdl were listing for around 1000.00 bucks starting bid.. whats say ye? keep the bdl and buy 1873 outright or try a decent tradein or swap?

700 BDL in .17 hmr ?

Perhaps .17 Remington.

I could see that trade happening if the remington were decently scoped.

My favorite "17" is the 17 Hornet - I think it is a far better balance of power and accuracy than the 17 HMR or the 17 Remington, and the 17 rim fire Winchester suffers from the lack of reloadable flexibility.

my bad ,it is in the .17 remington. it was scoped with a bushnell, not sure on power, never cared for the gun much, was taken very well cared for. one guy at gun shop offered 600 cash. nope, no good. another offered 800 cash. sold. got more then i paid for it. then I ordered a winnie 1873 in the 44-40. be here this weekend. https://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product ... n&ecList=7 Now, that gets my levergun countup to 4. I might be close in trying to catch up with some of u guys.

Those BDL's in 17 Remington have become fairly collectible. Not a caliber that ever did much for me, but the collector's love them!

Since i don't reload and the 1873 action is considered the weakest among the leverguns, any commercial ammo recommendation for plinkin? i might go hoggin if the opportunity arrives. just don't want to rattle the action right off the bat! thanks

800 for a bdl in 17 rem!? Hmm I might have to think about sending mine down the road... I hardly use it anymore.
