IIRC, ~1954 or so. As to why? Armchair experts and maybe even some real experts could argue the whys ad finitum! :twisted: :wink:

AFAIK, the switch from long to short Winchester Model 94 Carbine forends was at about SN 1,790,000 ( 1950).
