Winchester 1866

Post by rodeo kid »

Allow me to ramble a bit please. I have broken a promise to myself. I had a part time job which I quit so my wife and I could do some traveling. It brought in about $1000 a month which I used for guns or ammo along with my wife's car payment. She is very spoiled and gets a new car every two years. So I vowed to only buy 1 gun a year unless I went back to work. Well, I went into my local gun peddler to (just look around and gossip). As I was looking around he showed me a new production Winchester 1866 with a 20'' barrell. My main weakness the last few years has been FDE and I have bought several firearms in that finish. My other weakness has always been brass frames. And I have both a Henry Big Boy and Golden Boy. So all this to say, yes I sinned, I put it on layaway, I just had to, it was so sweet. And yes I know it is made in Japan by Miroku, but it says Winchester on the barrel and was so neat and not much more than a Uberti. God has blessed me with 2 retirement checks + Soc Sec so I can still pay the bills and have a little extra. God Bless.⛪

What caliber and loads you going to use in it? Why did you wait so long to get one? Todd/3leg
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

250 Savage... its what the 223 wishes it could be...!

It's in .44-40, while I have 10 lever action rifles, I have. Been on a modern kick lately, ar-15, m1a, pump shotgun, and 5 semi auto pistols(all in flat dark earth)in the last couple of years. Come winter I may have go back to work, he also had a case hardened 1873 that also caught my eye. While I don't need any more guns I still seem to have the wants. God Bless.⛪
