Henry 45 Carbine

So it hit 52 degrees below zero at the farm for a few days in Jan and I decided there needed to be a warmer place for the winter. Sold some stuff and got a place in the mountains of AZ on a dead end road with a view and no postal delivery. The place is GREAT but some of the local inhabitants are a bit on the anti-social side. When walking the dog he keeps wanting to chase the wild pigs and one evening even a mountain lion put in an appearance. I have always wanted a .45 Trapper lever gun to take on the walks but just had not done it. After looking around I decided on a Henry 16.5 Steel Big Boy. Well made, great wood, and already had the sling swivels mounted. For the speed and night use, (and OLD EYES) I mounted a Holosun 2 MOA solar powered red dot on a Henry rail, it even had room for mounting the PVS14 behind it if needed. IT shoots really well with +P's and is sighted in with Buffalo Bore 325 Gas Checked LFN and cycles them just fine. (Range Photos to follow)

That looks really nice, I know bout older eyes as I just put a small scope on a Marlin 1894s in 44-40

For poor light (or even total darkness) use, I have modified a couple Marlins and Rossi's to a 'Night Scout' configuration that has prove practical and useful on our small farm, whether going out to check the livestock, taking a owl-and-frog walk, or investigating why the chickens started squawking at 2 AM. Some of the modifications might be pretty similar for your Henry:
