Searcy Double Rifles

Post by Pop Watts »

Sorry to be a bit off topic.
There is a very nice looking Searcy in 470 Nitro for sale here in Australia.
Do any of you guys have any experience with Searcy guns?
I have read some good things about them, but they are not something that comes along for sale often.
Thanks.
Pop.

I have no real knowledge of Searcy guns but I like his opinion of gunsmiths.

Very high quality. I have not shot one but have handled several.

Maybe someday, in 600 Nitro Express.....

.

Butch Searcy started making his own double rifles a few decades ago, and they've always struck me as being quality work.

Here's his website: http://www.searcyent.com/

In the double rifle forums I used to frequent (I wanted a 450NE or 500NE), Searcy guns are considered a Very good gun and I almost bought one.

Unbelievably Searcy is self taught and a "one-man show".

Thanks for the responses.
This guy seems to almost have legend status on some double rifle forums.
I love his story.
