Interesting maps....

I always thought the nations where left-hand versus right-hand driving is the norm must have interesting border crossings...

Simple, you drive into a "round-a-bout" on the right side, drive out on the left... or vice versa.

Pretty interesting that "coaches" are usually the highest paid employees of "academic" institutions. What does this really say about the value we place on education???

That is very interesting and it really puts things in perspective, doesn't it. I've never seen that before. (A billion people.....wow, does that just blow your mind or what?)
Thanks for posting.

UCLA is not that far inland.
Further than most folks think. I've had some ask me if folks can surf at UCLA or USC. I've also had folks think they can drive to Oregon from L.A. in a few hours. These, of course, are east coasties.

I would wag that the ca.1969 internet map had the distances exaggerated so the different terminus' could be clearly seen.

I presume the point was to show the dramatic changes/difference in connectivity between 1969 & today.

We've got Google Streetview here. Not up to date, but we've got it. Shucks, the last time I checked Google Earth they were showing a circus that left town over a decade ago. The empty lot it was on is now covered with factories and warehouses. And has been for almost a decade. They don't seem to update our local maps very often, to say the least.
