OT: New Truck!

Post by Beaker »

I stopped by the Ford Dealership yesterday, for a look at the new F-150 aluminum pickup. just for fun, I took it out for a test drive. I wanted to sense that new truck "feel" before they become old.
The salesperson (a nice looking, black lady wearing a “Hillary for President” lapel pin) sat in the passenger seat next to me, describing the truck and all its "wonderful" options.
The seats were of particular interest to her. She explained that the seats directed warm air to your butt in the winter and directed cool air to your butt in the summer heat.
Feeling like messing with her, I mentioned that this must be a Republican truck.
Looking a bit angry, she indignantly asked why I thought it was a Republican truck. I explained that if it were a Hillary truck, the seats would just blow smoke up your butt year-round.
I had to walk back to the dealership. She had no sense of humor.

Now I know this is a joke. Because I'm sure you would have made her walk back, it being a Republican truck and all.

Now....that's a joke I like! (Hopefully it was not a joke as I can twist that around to fit other things and plan to use it). Let's see...Republican stores, clothes, cars, pets, hats, appliances..............---6

I actually bought a new F-150 a few months ago. It's the XL trim level, but I don't need fancy. Has the extended cab, 4X4, 2.8 EcoBoost. In-town mileage is 17 plus; road mileage 23 plus, and 0-60 in 7 seconds. Very happy with it. And yes, I am a Republican.

Interesting,

I bought a Super Crew 4x4 with a 5.0 V-8 and getting 18.3 around town and 22-23 on the highway. I haven't timed the 0-60 but it'll get away from me if I'm not careful!

It's also a Republican truck. :D

Republican Truck here, too..Ram 1500 EcoDiesel...I just got back from a not quite 3 week jaunt to see Mom (92) in Ohio. 6000 miles, total average was 26mpg, but that was with LOT'S of idling sleeping in the truck at night for air conditioning, and when I had to keep the dog locked in the rig so he would be cool enough. 0-60 is about 8 sec, and I opened it up in East Overshoe Wy, and quit about 115mph, and it had a tiny bit left..I think I'm getting about 1,000+ miles per gallon of DEF...They are doing amazing things with engines these days.... 8)
I filled up once with BioDiesel.....what trash! I lost about 3-4 mpg

Blaine, I looked hard at the Ecodiesel, but got scared off my all the problems posted by owners on the Ram Ecodiesel forum. Hope yours is trouble free! Thought I would "get by" with the F-150 until Nissan brings out the Frontier with the new Cummins small diesel plant.

So far, a flawless 18,000+ miles.....This is the same engine that the Grand Cherokee has been using for 15 years. When I was looking at it, it appeared to be bulletproof.

.

I'm liking that joke - one to pass on, for sure.

My Son (who has worked for Ford for 30+ years) recently special-ordered (and received) a new crew-cab Lariat with an electric red paint & the black interior w/red accents.

He votes based on his gun issues, just like I do - we're both Independent voters, but decidedly don't care for most Democrat politicians.

He's happier than a pig in poop. ;)
