I often wonder when looking at these old photos, if we unknowingly are looking into the past of the very guns now resting in our modern day safes.

'73s sure look to be popular! The fellar seated 2nd from right has cartridges that look a little long for the action of his levergun!

30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Great picture.
I zoomed it up, I dont think any of them are 76's.
I've noticed that in pics of what look more like town guys, theres more rifles, in pics of outdoors/working cowboy types and lawmen, carbines are more common than with the town looking guys.

Just my opinion, but the fellers in these old pictures look way more BA than todays black rifle, tacticool, shaved head crowd.
