Prayer request. Update, see below

Post by mod71alaska »

Fellas, I'm having a long overdue surgery for a total right knee replacement tomorrow early afternoon. I have a good surgeon and trust that his hands are guided from above. Your prayers for everything to go well in surgery and the weeks of rehab that follow would be greatly appreciated.

Blessings in all things to each of you.

Victor

Heard from Victor today. He is home. Surgery went well. He had a rough few days with nausea. He is doing well with getting his motion back. he could use continued prayers. He is thankful of the prayers and those who have lifted them up.

Thanks very, very much for your prayer support. It gave me strength going into surgery and has given me strength after surgery knowing the power of your prayers. The knee replacement surgery went well. Post op was tough with 30 hours of vomiting before I could hold any food down. A switch to another narcotic for pain did the trick. I'm home now and PT starts tomorrow. Let me tell you I understand first hand now why everyone says rehab from this surgery is a B I T C H. I can practically tell time by when I need to take my next pain meds! On the bright side I've pushed to 90 degree flexion and zero degree extension already, and I'm able to carefully walk across the room without crutches. The ideal flexion goal is at least 115 degrees. I can tell you that won't be happening for a few more weeks!. I can't even visualize 115 degrees out of that swollen knee today! $::?/-€¥%£#' OUCH!!!

Updates to follow. I'm dozing off....

Wishing you blessing and good luck on your recovery Victor!

My mother had both knees replaced at age 76 -- at the same time -- and never took any pain meds after they sent her home. She doesn't have a secret for how she did that, she just made up her mind and did it. She amazed all the docs and nurses, and us kids too. I know she was faithful and diligent about the PT and stretching and any exercises she had to do; it was some work, but worth it in the end to get her strength and mobility back.

She also had some luck with a product called "Mederma"; she rubbed it on her knees as often as it says, and it really helped minimize any scarring. If that's a concern, that product really works.

Hope you're up and walking down range to change targets real soon!

Glad it went well Victor.

Man, the puking sounds worse than the hurt! Don't I hate throwing up. :(

I'm sure the PT sucks, but it will pay off on the other end.

Hang in there. Prayers sent.

Best wishes, I endured two hip replacements and my fellow patients all said knees were much worse for recovery grief! It is so wonderful to be walking 15 years later, you'll grow to appreciate the grief, hang in there.
