Interesting idea.

Stripper clips are very fast and simple. Most videos I've seen of people using them seem to be trying to do it the most awkward way possible though.

A router and a dovetail or other undercutting bit would be all you'd need. Use hard wood so the lips keeping the cartridges down don't break off.

Looks like the (big) MagLula ones.

BTW the little "Lula" ones are pocket sized and REALLY work...!

I'll second the Lula. And, it doesn't take up much room in the range bag. But, I suppose if you were loading several hundred mags at a time it might be worth the trouble to make.

I've heard that as well. I've decided it wasnt an "either-or" thing though. I find larger mags to be nice to shoot more and load less. Several years ago when I had a Colt H-Bar AR, and ammo was $150-$175/1000, I'd shoot 3 or 4 magazines several times a week when going out dog walking. Not much missing with a scoped H-Bar AR, even plinking out to 800 or so yards. Great fun. I miss those days, the cheap ammo, and that rifle.

I became infatuated with that particular gun when shooting with a friend. Shooting a 5.56 AK I was shooting at a stick at about 300 yards. I was close, it seemed impressive how close and how often,....until I started shooting the H-Bar and was hitting it consistantly. I told him I wanted to buy it if he ever sold it. Eventually he did.
