Wish me luck!!

Post by 2ndovc »

I was recruited by a large company last summer to go back into a position I really didn't want to do but the $ was too hard to pass up.
Well it's almost a year later and working 70-80-90 hours a week ain't gettin' it!!! Along with driving 1000 miles+ weekly!!!

I'm going back to being self- employed and have clients lined up for the next several months.
Mostly consulting.
I figure I'm at the age where I should be getting paid for what I know! Not how many jobs I Can sign up.

I never did well as an 'employed' person; always seemed to be more suited to self-employment. The income sometimes sucked (or was absent altogether), but the satisfaction of being able to do what the customer NEEDED instead of what some employer wanted me to sell them, has so far made it worh the headaches.

Good luck.

Thanks Guys!!

I went to my boss a month ago and made a deal to reduce my hours. Not only did that not happen but time increased by another 50%.

I'm out!!!

May you find the job satisfaction that most of us only dream about.

I would like to open my own business, but so far the areas which I think that there is not a saturation of what I do are places that PillHer would not be happy living. When I can find the right place, then it will happen. Until then, I wish the best for those who choose to open thier own businesses.

By the way, make sure you set up a limited liability corporation. The taxes will eat you alive if you don't. They won't be fun anyway. My Brother in Law is a consultant in the oil field and he pays about 50% in taxes after he set up a corporation with him and my sister as stockholders. Before that it was almost 75% taxes. Uncle Sam is GREEDY.

The best part is since I've made my mind up I've been able sleep for the first time in months!!
