I 'dunno' if it could be classified as a "rare" as the auction description claims.

Also made by Remington -- see the barrel marking and the serial number. Some would not consider it a "true" Marlin.

Believe I recently saw one at the local Cabela's.

It is listed in the Cabela's on-line catalogue for US$789.00:

.

The bbl's stamped "336 CB", not "336 CBA" - I wish there was a pic of the box's end label.

Pete: I did a search for "Marlin model 1895 CBA" and found these two threads (April and July 2014) on other shooting fora.

While it is a Model 1895CBA, there is nothing unusual or rare about it in my mind. The first link has photographs, including the box end.

Read all 'bout it:

Auction hype comes to mind...

The 1895 CB has a 26" barrel. This one looks to be around 20 inches.

One thing to remember with the on line auction sites. Everything for sale is either extremely rare or one of a kind.

The old saying "a fool and his money are soon parted" applies to the nth degree when buying on line.

I figured it wasn't a particularly 'rare' item - but it IS a fine looking 45-70 - kind of a Guide Gun, only with more 'class'...

Yes, in fact some of the things they have on these auctions are so rare that there was never even ONE of them ever made !!
