800 - 900 lb. would be my guess depending on chow, I hate when that happens!
projectile????? could be arrow or bullet? sounds strange to me
I got hit by falling limbs a few times one was nearly fatal, one went through my arm
like a spear, if the bear was shot I hope they catch the shooter

".....replacement costs up to $5,000 for this animal.”
Ummm.....  How would the Wildlife Dept "replace" a bear? I'm not trying to minimize the illegality of this, but, I cringe when the news sez stupid stuff......

They can't tell if it was killed by a bullet or an arrow???? Sounds like a college trained warden.

Losing revenue for the tags? Hmmmm....Makes sense in a Government sort of way, don't it? "They" always think they can prove a negative, or engage in a zero sum game.

And how else would you do it? Or do you propose that the animal was valueless?

You are always critical but rarely constructive. How about what YOU believe should be done?

Too bad. I agree with the thought that the game warden must have been college educated. I have a college education, am not nearly as good a shot as some of the folks on this forum whom I know, and cannot track as well. On the plus side, I think I could have looked at the wound and been able to tell if it was from an arrow of a bullet.
