leveraction rifles and SAPS 520 form for south africa

Post by maddog »

For those of you who have taken leveraction[particularly marlin] rifles to south africa for a hunt, I have a question about the saps 520 form for your import permit. When you lis t your make, model, serial number, it has a colum for the serial number on the receiver, and one for on the barrel. Since they only have one on the receiver, do you leave the barrel column blank, or should you get the serial number engaved on the barrel?

Thanks.

Leave it blank. I took a vintage 1895 Win 405 to Zimbabwe, had no problems and would never engrave anything on the barrel.
