Hathcock video on History.ca

Post by Canuck Bob »

I found this link to view a video on Hathcock, I knew he was quite a sniper but had no idea how much of a true hero he was. Probably have to endure a commercial or two.

http://www.history.ca/video/lone+wolves ... s=dd#video

EDIT: this link may be busted go to my post further down for a different approach. It is on the History.ca channel under Videos, Hardcore Heroes program titled Lone Wolves S1 E5.

It will require you to sit through two ads before loading program.

It won't let me watch it. Even tried going to the History Channel and couldn't find.

Read the book White Feather. It contains much more info and is likely a bit more accurate. What amazed me was the mention of his having a black out episode (I forget what progressive disease he had) while on a mission. Not many would have admitted to such an event. Then again, he didn't have any reason not to, he was just that way.

It worked for me. It is a link to the Canadian History Channel. There are 2 commercials then the program boots.

Hope it works for Americans?

Edit, I am now planning on reading the book, thanks.

On a related note, Chris Kyle's book is a must-read as far as I'm concerned, too...

Happened to be looking at a 1966 Guns & Ammo magazine the other day and was surprised to find an article detailing how Hathcock was the 1965 Wimbledon champion. Knew about his Vietnam exploits, but never heard that he had been a national competition winner also.

White Feather is excellent. I too need to re-read it. Chris Kyle's book is good as well.

Another excellent book about sniper warfare is A Rifleman Went to War by McBride. He too was a competitive shooter prior to WW1.

Is he the fellow who took a scoped bolt action hunting rifle with him? Name sounds familiar.

He was, at one point, the sniper with the highest confirmed kills. He used a variety of platforms but started off with a model 70 in 30-06 I believe. Later added a bull barrel. He put a scope on a 50 cal and had the longest confirmed kill, I believe it was on an arms transporter riding a bicycle.

Yep. The one with the .50 I remember. Marine sniper? Name of the book.

Sorry guys, I get the same from some sites. It has something to do with copyright across the border specific to regions.

Edit: try this link the above one quite working for me. Under the header enter Lone Wolves in the SEARCH box, it might let you in. It is located in the Video section under "Hardcore Heros" program.

http://www.history.ca/video/#video

Or try scrolling down below the current episode S1 E6 on flyers if this page loads. It is the next episode Lone Wolves S1 E5 there is a link to Hathcock as well.

good luck
