OT- A Year Ago Today...
at 6:22 a.m. my mother Masae Nagai Fay passed away after 78 years of life here on earth 57 of which she spent with my father Nelson. They both rest peacefully now, and I know I will see them again but I miss them beyond words. Their wedding anniversary is the 15th of this month and next week my 3 sisters and one brother will be arriving here and on their anniversary day we shall scatter both my parents ashes in Kailua Bay together, this place being where they chose to finally settle and raise their 6 children. GOD bless them both.
I don't know what to say other than my thoughts are with you and yours. I lost my Dad 7 years ago and I still think of him often and I guess I always will. My wife lost her Dad suddenly this year and is just now back more or less to normal. Take care my friend and I hope all works out for you.
Happiness is a comfortable stump on a sunny south facing mountain.

When I lost my mother, aunt, and uncle within two weeks of one another, I didn't cry tears of sorrow - they had all lived long full lives - but the tears were of AWE at the amazing beauty of their lives and the things they humbly accomplished. Something to strive for in my own life.
That generation spanned some tremendous social and technologic changes; I know a friend whose grandfather's earliest childhood memory was of general Custer getting killed, and he lived to see man walk on the moon.
I think the lack of technology during most of their lives, and the lack (in this country) of socialism during most of their lives, helped them to be very fulfilled, spiritual, and knowledgeable - close to the Earth and reality. Of late, our citizens seem to be comparatively shallow, amoral, and possess only superficial knowledge of 'facts' rather than much in the way of true understanding.
Maybe we'll see the current crop eventually mature; I hope so...!

Mother Jeeps passed back in '91, I was more in "shock" than sorrow.
I actually felt worse for those who came to comfort me. I couldn't sum up
the meaning of losing a "Mother" at the time.
I know she lives in my heart because when I think of her she gives it a good squeeze
It also causes me to giggle when I hear her words coming out of my mouth
when I speak to my son.
God bless you and your family Ji.

I hear ya Brother...My Dad passed away in Jan of 1998 and my Mother passed away in June of 2006....both from Cancer. I feel your pain...
But as you related, I'll see them again somday. In the meantime, they speak to my heart often...and I always listen. If I run into something I need answered, I just ask my Parents, and the answer is always in my heart.

Even with that "Blessed Assurance," I can empathize with how truly devastating the loss of your beloved parents is, and how the loss never truly goes away.
Like you, brother, both of my parents have departed, and are awaiting my arrival on the other shore. What a great hope!
Prayers being sent your way so that you can be reminded of how joyful they currently are; and that, after overcoming your grief, that you can soon look back and enjoy the many good memories that your parents provided you.
Please check out Romans 8:1-2, then Rom 8:37-39. The comforting conclusion of that chapter is so powerful that I feel compelled to take up a little bandwidth and storage space to reprint it here, given your circumstances and owing to the fact that you know the validity of the Scriptures:
Rom 8:37-39 -
But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God's peace to you, brother.

Words are difficult to come by at times like this. I am blessed to still have both of my parents, but did lose my last grandparent last year, and within two weeks of that lost an aunt. The older generation is slipping away as all around me, people my age are becoming grandparents.

There are things in this world I hold near to my heart,
but they're nothing, their not mine at all.
Jesus only let's me use them to brighten my life,
Why he loves me I can't understand.
Roll back the curtains of memories now and then.
Show me where you brought me from,
and where I might have been.
Just remember I'm human, and humans forget.
So remind me, remind me dear Lord.
