Load
Rockchuck: I am working with a model 1894 Marlin 44 Mag, working up some loads.. I have found best accuracy with max loads of H110 behind a Jacketed 240.. check your book and start out a grain or two under max, work your way up.. Also a 20 gr load of 2400 behind a 180 gr jacketed .430 groups very well.. the slow 1`-38 twist is not very forgiving.. have a Shilen 1-20 .429 on the way.. will keep you'all posted about progress.. Re: 44 mag marlin levergun
The lead SWC was very accurate in my gun but it didn't feed well. Due to velocities appropriate to the bullet, I'd go with 9-10 gr. of Unique. Gives .44-40 BP velocities.rockchuck wrote:anybody have a pet load for 44 mag in marlin levergun ,240 gr. lead swc ':D')

Here's what shoots good out of my 1894:
Montana Bullet Works
230 gr SWC sized to .431

23.0 gr H110 over WLP in R-P case. With a 16x scope will shoot MOA @ 100 yards out of my rifle.
This is the most accurate load/rifle combination I have for a Levergun
If I remember correclty it will do 1750 fps or better.
