Today dad would be a 100 years old

Post by Booger Bill »

But he died in april 2003 two months short of 90. Mom died 10 years earlier in 1993. Since its just past fathers day I thought I might say a word. Often his brithday was on fathers day. Dad and mom both were hard workers, strong christians and loved to hunt, fish and shoot. Dad was a crack shot and worked with me on it especialy aerial shooting at cans, bottels and stuff at the dump. Severial times I seen him shoot black birds out of the air with his winchester 61 .22 rifle. I was lucky and miss them both.

I appeciate my Dad as well, and miss him also. Your parents look happy to be with each other. Thanks for the pictures.

I know how you feel. I feel the same about my Dad (1922-2004).

Thats ok blaine. They say the genes skip a generation so you must be good to go. Speaking of that, I never really knew my grandpa, just a foggy memory of kissing him goodbye on his death bed. But from many sources I heard he was ferrocious. I think dad tried to be low key and quiet from that and raise me the opposite of how he was raised. Dad was 6ft 5"s and he worked at not intimitating people. If I picked him up at the train or airport you could bet he was the last person off. Still if crossed he was bad news! Dad had 7 older half brothers and sisters. He was the oldest of 10 more! My grandpa`s first wife died young and left him with 6 kids. One week later he was introduced to my grandmother that was a young widow with one young son from his same area that he lived in volhyenia. (Now the ukraine) They married immediatly and dad was born 9 months later, the eldest of ten more. It was a different day. They were farmers. I still have two aunts and one uncle alive of the batch. Two of them are in their mid ninetys. Uncle art was one of the very first drafted when the draft came out in wisconsin. He is 96. I should go home and see him. He was a mp and told me he was assigned to drive gen patton a few times. I suppose that was because he spoke german fluently. (Grandpa and extended clan were german homesteaders in russia.)

Mine would be 98, but he didn't make it to 48, unfortunately. I would have liked to know him. Folks who knew him say good things about him.
