I can't imagine any reason to go to S.F. since the San Francisco Gun Exchange is no longer there. Though I suppose they must have some wonderful vegetarian restaurants in the town.

My buddy told me that there are 47 good bars in China Town....honestly, I don't remember more than four of them  Don't try to take a car downtown. Walking, or, a little Vespa rental would be much better....

"The City", as locals call it is a great place to visit. Many nice touristy things to do. Living there not so much (even discounting the firearms restrictions) unless you like cool, cloudy weather for a good part of the year.

Still, many folks need to go there for business as it is one of the business hubs not only for California but the Pacific Rim.

I like the city (cool architecture, topography, neat marina area , hiking in the MArin county foothills ) --- like others have said, a neat place to visit , ---try to block out most of the residents politics and it'll be fun :)

We made it, all checked in and computing. Kinda slow connection but We will manage. Just here for 5 days, meeting some old Army Buddies from service in Germany 1968. 2 couples r here, 1 more to come plus 1 single Guy. 1 couple is from Illinois, 1 from North Carolina (Morgantown) and the other couple that will be here tomorrow is from Stockton Ca. The single Guy is from the L.A. area, He is coming in from Oregon. He is retired now and plans on moving to Oregon.I will have to figger out these buses to get to where the others are. Today driving wasn't bad but I think weekdays will be bad.
Saw 2 pawn shops that I will have to check out.

"...cool, cloudy weather for a good part of the year" sounds pretty darn good about now!!
Don't know if I ever really had a bad meal in SF. At least it used to be said that there, like NYC and New Orleans especially, if bad they don't last.

My favorite part of SF is the Fisherman's Wharf area with the Maritime Museum, the WWII submarine and things like that. The SF Mint museum is really neat too. But to answer your question, no, I'm not there. :)

I guess this really wouldn't be the place for a Levergunner huh..
All I am seeing for eateries is Bistros and little hole in the wall lunch boxes with tons of Hippies with They're dogs laying on the sidewalk while they eat(the hippies). We ate at a little place called Judy's, barely enough room at the table for 6 people so what do I have ? A Chili Burger  My legs cramped up all nite, this is going to be fun if that persists.

I had a very good pastrami sandwich somewhere downtown in 1991. Place looked more like a diner than an eatery

The WWII sub is definitely worth seeing, it was probably the high point of my trip.

If you like garlic, check out the Stinking Rose Italian restaurant over on Columbus in the North Beach area.

You can thank me later.

Oh...and if you can swing it, you should check out the USS Hornet museum at the old Alameda NAS across the Bay. I hear it's top-notch.

Try the Buena Vista Café, home of original Irish Coffee. It's right at the end of the Hyde Street Cable Car route.

Saw the Submarine today. Never really knew how they submerged and surfaced, I do now. Also saw the refurbished Battle Ship, caint remember the name.
The traffic in downtown was less today than it was yesterday.
Having a Great visit, the other Guy and His Wife came in this evening. They are from Stockton Ca. and originally from Michigan. Goint to try for the Alcatraz cruise tomorrow.
It's late , Goodnite
