I chose to add the 999 month, 999,999 mile extended warranty for $1180

FRONT wheel drive 4x2????????? OK, I can understand REAR wheel drive 4x2, but FRONT????? And how in the world did you find one with roll up windows? I thought those were extinct or special order only for an extra charge. Truth be known I like electric windows, but that's just me.Old Savage wrote:Here it is fellows - the new ride. My wife and daughter picked it out for me from a list of possibilities I gave them to go look at. 2.0L 4 cyl., 6 speed automatic, roll up windows, front wheel drive 4x2.

Gotta love it when a new ride comes along.J Miller wrote: FRONT wheel drive 4x2????????? OK, I can understand REAR wheel drive 4x2, but FRONT????? Nice ride any way you look at it though.

I've had mine since 2008, I love it but it's pretty light. High winds on the highway really push you around. Other than that it's been great!sore shoulder wrote:Interesting warranty. Wife is wanting a new vehicle and I've been thinking about a 4door Wrangler.

Interesting. We get high winds here in the winter, coupled with icy roads that may not be a good thing.2ndovc wrote:I've had mine since 2008, I love it but it's pretty light. Complicated, and you can't fix anything yourself.2.0L engine getting 158 HP and having a 10.5 compression ratio but running on 87 Oct. DOHC 16 valve with variable valve timing and mutlipoint fuel injection. Wow, now what does all that mean?
Don't pick on Fred!! Remember that picture of my "Heavy Ladies"???? It wouldn't take longer than a couple seconds to post it again or better yet, PM it to you.Mescalero wrote:You are slipping, the accident must have taken the edge off.
That's the only thing that I don't like about it. In the snow and mud it's awesome, but our trip to TX last year was miserable.sore shoulder wrote:Interesting. The wife used to have an 01 F-150 Supercrew 4x4, very very good truck. I always have a Ford Powerstroke 4x4. We had a nice AWD SUV that did very well, we gave it to daughter when she graduated college. Ford is making a AWD SUV with the ecoboost, I've been looking pretty hard at that.2ndovc wrote:That's the only thing that I don't like about it. We drove eight hours into a 50-70 MPH windstorm and after ten hours I was a basket case!
Best part is that they really hold their value and is going to be a great trade when I go back to an F-150 4WD four door.
If I had the cash and didn't need the trade I'd keep it around just for an "about town Rag Top"

One word "Rubicon". I did it in '83 in a stock CJ8. I gotta find those pics.BlaineG wrote:Nice....you don't need 4WD in Southern Cali.
Sadly it means it sips gas, but even with a six speed, you're gonna wish for a few more cylinders and ponies eventually.Old Savage wrote:Well it is registered to my wife and I so I don't know if it passes to a new owner - good question. They call it lifetime but it is defined in the paper work as I stated it. I wondered about the whole new 6 speed transmission thing and a 2.0L engine getting 158 HP and having a 10.5 compression ratio but running on 87 Oct. DOHC 16 valve with variable valve timing and mutlipoint fuel injection. Wow, now what does all that mean? I threw it all out here to see who knew what about it. Still going through the manual of course.
Yep!!! You're doing great Fred. Enjoy the new ride!!!!!!!Old Savage wrote:Mescy - it is good to be open to a wide range of versions of feminitude.![]()

Alas to inform you - Heather and her lovely sister now have boyfriends - but a gold mine may talk its own language.
And of course the lovely lady who chose the vehicle.
I think this covers the list so far suggested by Modoc Ed.
I had a CJ8, pickup cab. Lifted, 35's, 350 4 speed and a lot of other things I don't recall, I see it running around the mtns every summer and cringe. The only thing worse for swallowing money than CJ's is a jetboat. And years later a stock 98 4Runner Limited with electric locker did everything those CJ's would except it looked good and was comfortable for 4 people a dog and gear. CJ's blah.jeepnik wrote:One word "Rubicon". I did it in '83 in a stock CJ8. I gotta find those pics.BlaineG wrote:Nice....you don't need 4WD in Southern Cali.
"Swallowing money"? I'm still running that '82 CJ. I've rebuilt the engine, tranny, transfer case, and put ARB's in the diffs. Added extras like lifts, tires, bumpers, winch, lights and things I've forgotten about that came and went. And, it's due for a complete front end overhaul. Still, imagine how much money I would have parted with had I replaced it every five years. Nope, that CJ has just sipped money.sore shoulder wrote:I had a CJ8, pickup cab.
