Ever notice that those old Sharps just have a certain style and grace of line. Compare them to an AR, and you realize that those older designs were as much art as machine. Good catch Blaine.

I have no idea I've never seen anywhere on the site that one could specify.
Since you bought it off the wall (so to speak), you couldn't specify. Just wondered if you asked when you selected it. Next time I get up your way... we may just have to schedule a range day. May even have to drag along my own example. I see black powder cartridge rifle loading in your future!

If I had not asked for help logging into the Forum, I would never have seen this...their on-line store didn't have this posted, or even have a picture. Thanks to Traci @ Shiloh for taking a picture and sending it to me....Here's more that are not on the site yet....excluding mine, of course. http://www.shilohrifle.com/shop/home.php?cat=9

What do I think? I think you'ld best get ahold of Powder Inc, and get some KIK 2f headed your direction, and Big Sky Components (John Olson on FB) and get some .458 diameter bullets coming.

I'll prolly get disowned, but, I think I'll start with my regular smokeless loads.... I like a 300 (express load) @ 2000 or my usual 405s @ 1700 or so.

That rifle has an 18 twist in the barrel. It may not particularly like those flyweight bullets.
You'll be mixing beeswax or candle wax with olive oil before much longer n' castin' nice soft lead slugs soon
I am very excited, TedH looks it's a good shooter also, something about the more innocent times and the firearms of back then. That nice big fat slug bimmbling along, flame, smoke and odour de la sulphur, excellent

You might get disowned if you shoot jacketed... but with cast, just a snigger or two behind your back!
I know there's quite a difference between .40 and .45, but my 1:18.5 likes the lighter 330-350 grain pills vs the 400+. But, the .40-90SBN is an "Express" cartridge from the word, "go"! I would agree with Don, you're probably looking in the 400+ grain range as the lightest you'll get the best accuracy from. My 1886 Browning in .45-70 has never gotten satisfactory accuracy from bullets lighter than 350s. (Well, the 325s I cast anyway)!

you know of course that the actual ideal load is the old standby GrizzDriver, same one we shot from your bfr and all the rest of your 45/70s. let's light it up....
So... when's the last snow of the season? Provided we're still a country by then, and these aren't classed as NFA guns, I'll have to make a road trip. Or you will!!! Maybe we can get 86er to do a Sharp's hog hunt on the cheap!

That is a great idea Griff. Can you swing by and pick me up ?
Would love to return to 86er land with a bunch of fellow sharps shooters and harvest some BBQ on the hoof.

If things don't go too south for me, I could prolly do that....There's plenty of time, but, extraordinary items have to be saved for
