Movie... The Last Challenge

Post by Chuck 100 yd »

I just watched 'The Last Challenge' With Glen Ford and Angie Dickenson .
Every levergun I saw in that flick was a Marlin 1894.

In one of the Rawhide episodes, Roudy Yates (Clint Eastwood)
shoots a guy in the back with his Marlin 94.
Has anyone seen that one???

Well, IT'S ABOUT TIME that the Marlins get some fame and glory...! Always the movies just show Winchesters, as if that's all there was back then... :|

"The Big Valley" used Marlins as well.

Maybe Glenn Ford liked Marlins. The cover art on my copy of Cimarron shows him with a Marlin.

The "problem" with The Big Valley (and others) is that the Marlins were so obviously modern (60s) variations with the white-line butts plates! At least the (mis)use of 92s on most shows had "the look" - featuring "73-like" carbine and crescent rifle butts and forends, and "period-correct" sights common with '73s :) I remember when I first saw a 336 on TBV - and thought - "aw, c'come on!". Yeah, I know, we could go on and on about these shows...they"re all wrong! - but TBV was over the top in that department.
Btw, Rowdy with a '92 SRC I believe :)
