Peep sight for Marlin 336Y?
Is there a peep sight for the 336Y that will allow me to use the factory front sight?
Re: Peep sight for Marlin 336Y?
Dunno about the 'Y' model specifically, but I've kept the front sight when using Williams "FP" sights. The Marlins that are 'side-tapped' can use the FP-94 model, which has a bit less on top of the receiver, but all the Marlins can sue the FP-336, which mounts in the scope-base holes (I use the front holes, many folks use the rear ones). You have to remove or fold-down the rear factory sight, but you can 'rough-in' the FP after installation by lining it up with the factory rear before removing it.
I really like the fine gold-bead Marlin front sights, with an FP 'ghost-ringed' on the rear.
Lots of 'peep pics' here if you are interested - http://www.levergunscommunity.com/viewt ... &p#p390174
If your Marlin is not side-tapped, but you want to mount the FP-94, it isn't that hard to drill/tap for one yourself. Piece of cake if you already have a drill press. http://www.levergunscommunity.com/viewt ... =1&t=25689
