RIP Kitty Wells

Post by Rusty »

I just heard on the radio Kitty Wells died yesterday of a stroke. She was 92 and had been married to the same man for 70 years.

Known as THE QUEEN OF COUNTRY MUSIC.

Well respected lady. Read where she said she loved what she did. Enjoyed traveling and seeing different parts of the country. When she was in her prime the life of a country music artist was a lot different than now. No fancy buses, much, much less income. If you can imagine, I expect most of the country artists smoked cigarettes--holy cow!

Then came Tammy and then Patsy.

It's always nice to hear anyone say they love their work. You can't ask for much more than that.

They don't make her ilk anymore. But heck, I could be happy if Kitty, Patsy, Lorretta and Dolly were the only female singers extant.

She was a good one for sure, getting to 92 is not too bad.

I remember reading a long time ago that she and Conway Twitty were dating.
She broke it off as she didn't want to merry him and be known as "kitty twitty"

she was one of the great ones. :D

That is probably the best description of today's "country" I've seen. Mind if I borrow it from time to time?
