Very nice. I would imagine a little under-appreciated over there!

Note that the poster stated that they cost "more than my house did." I'm betting that the owner knows enough about them to treat them right as he said he's not even going to work the actions.

Nice haul. Not only would I work the actions, I'd scrounge some ammo and shoot both of 'em. At least once. Gotta make sure they work.

They have two of those in at least that good a condition at one of the high end gun shops in Dallas. I felt privileged to even lay eyes on them when I was in there the other day.

I think it's interesting how those sling swivels position the sling in the same position that they do on most M4 setups today. Truly, there is nothing new under the sun.

Astounding! I'm with Joe though, I'd have to shoot 'em at least once.

Yea, those babies are better than any 401 K plan. The year was 1978 and I was just a punk kid of 24 (still am) when I had my hands on a documentated Civil War Henry. The guy wanted 4G's or about the price of a stripped down Ford pick-up truck. I had to go with the truck.
This is the closest I ever came to owning a Henry----a single cartridge I bought back in the seventies for IIRC, about $10. As many of you know, these were 44 caliber rimfires and the rifles had dual firing pins, directly opposed to each other. The manufacturers of the ammo stamped an "H" on the back for recognition to the inventor.---------Sixgun

Re: Two Beautiful, Original Henry 1860's
a friend has one that's been in his family since the 20's. The bore was severely crudded up, he cleaned it with foaming bore cleaner, the bore was in decent shape under all the crud. He wants to find a box of the Navy Arms ammo they loaded in a couple different runs at various times. He wants to shoot it, just a few rounds.

I can only dream of a Henry but I sure enjoy looking at them.

+1, if I'd spent that much money on the rifles it is dead certain I'd find ammo somehow...J Miller wrote:Nice haul. Not only would I work the actions, I'd scrounge some ammo and shoot both of 'em. At least once. Gotta make sure they work.

I am an "AR15 guy" and I would leave it as it is.
We're not all idiots. But a modern rifle, I would equip as necessary.

I am just glad those did not end up in some police gun hand in somewhere.
38-55 & 38/44 What a combination!
