I've been wanting a small .22lr and trying to decide between the Ruger LCR / .22lr
and one of the Stainless Bearcats.
There's been a couple instances where I'd liked to have a small .22 while out hunting and
also like the idea of a pocket sized .22 while out walking the dogs.
I love the looks of the Bearcat but I think the LCR would get lots more use.
Probably end up with both eventually but trying to decide which one I want first.
I have my Grandfather's S&W Model 61 but it's almost new in the box and the though of
damaging it or losing it would break my heart. My other .22s are large target pistols.
Seems that the LCR .38s are getting good review. Just wndering if anyone has one yet.
Thanks,
jb

I had a model 34 years ago. One the the very few times I was ever dissapointed in a Smith. Accuracy was terrible, @ 8" at 25 feet! I know it's not supposed to be a match pistol but that was pathetic.
I like the current S&W .22s but they are about $200 more than the Ruger.
What I like about the LCR is it can get beat up and worn and I really wont worry about it.
Adding NAA to the mix. I've had a bunch of the little ones. I was just on thier website and I'm liking the Black Widows
and the new Earl. Sure wish they had continued with that nifty top break they made a few of.
The real con is they are only five shot revolvers.

I just sold a Bearcat. The grip is so little they are just hard to get a grip on. I am intrigued by the LCR 22 pistol. I have fired the 357 LCR and it is OK.
Had the .22 LCR here, off the rest it outshot in DA a Smith 317 in SA for accuracy at 25 yards.
Freestanding I'd think the Smith would be more practical, though.

I really like the Ruger LCR's..carried one for a BUG for over a year. I recently looked at the .22cal LCR and like others have stated it's DA only--I like to have the ability to shoot a revolver in SA, especially if it becomes a woods/walking gun. You might want to check out a Charter Arms .22cal, cheap, but reliable, they come in 2", 4", and 5" bbl.'s, they also come in .22 Win.Mag, and they have a 4" combo that gives you both .22cal. cylinder and a .22 Win.Mag cylinder.
For me personally, I find a 4" or greater barrel length to be ideal--I had a 2" S&W 34 (kit-gun) and two Beretta's 21A (2" bbl) for a while, but didn't shoot those as well as I do a 4"+ barrel length...just me... :)
