new member / levergun hunting this year
Hello gents,
I'm a new member, saying hello from southern Arizona. I've been reading this forum for about a year and finally broke down, read the directions, and registered. Thought you guys might enjoy some pictures from this year's hunting with leverguns.
The muley was taken in October with a Marlin 336, .30-30 from 2003. 180 yard shot, using 160gr FTX bullet over 30gr of H4895.
The javelina was taken in February with a Winchester 94, .32 WS from the missing 40s years. 25 yard shot, using 170gr hornady bullet over 36gr of BLC2.

Yes, they sure do! Evidently he didn't get the memo on bifurcation. He's a muley though, just a little black bratwurst-sized stump of a tail. He may well have some whitetail in him, i know they've been mixing down here. The whitetail here are Coues deer, no bigger than great danes. The Coues deer live primarily in the mountains and steep hills with the mulies down in the desert, but they both mix along the San Pedro River.

Really nice pics, ving-thorr. And really nice rifles -- you've pretty well got the center of the lever universe covered. What else do you have there? And do you know Oly?
I never got to shoot one of those javalinas, but I did get to tag along with a friend on a hunt and he used one of my revolvers to shoot his pig. Over there somewhere northwest of Wilcox, as I remember. The country looked just about like that in your javalina picture.

Re: new member / levergun hunting this year
thanks for the warm welcome, fellers
I've got one of the Browning 1895s from 1984 in .30-06 standing by, just waiting for me to draw an elk tag.
Nope, don't know Oly.
The javelinas don't smell pretty but they sure are fun to hunt! The deer was taken just south of Wilcox, and the javelina west of Tombstone. I was thinking about just carrying a S&W model 29 this February for javelina, but I'll take any excuse I can to bum around with a levergun. If I could justify a "javelina gun" with the War Department, I think I'd carry a '92 or marlin 1894 in .32-20.
