Stacy Groscup got me hooked on blowguns in the 70’s I don’t have one now but still have one in the garage at home.
A lot of fun and surprisingly accurate, great shooting.
Back in the old days doing electrical work, we used to make them and shoot them during lunch. We'd take a short piece of 1/2" emt conduit and wrap a little electrical tape around the factory (uncut) end, then we'd roll up a piece of paper into a cone (kinda like the end of a water cooler paper cup). Then we'd cut off a piece of solid #12 copper with no insulation and push it thru the sharp end of the cone leaving about 3/4" of copper hanging out. Wrap some electrical tape around the wire and wind it around the paper cone a turn or two. Take your pliers and clip the wire at an angle to give it a sharp point. Then you drop the dart into the conduit until the cone doesn't want to go in any farther, that's the place you trim the cone off so that it has a good seal for that conduit. I shot one 80 yards. We used to have contests hitting soda cans during lunch. I can think of one hospital job that if you lift some ceiling tiles out, you'll see a bunch of those darts stuck up in the drywall....haha....course that was back in the 70's-80's.
Draper that is how I make my darts. I make them out of nails and 7" sections of wire coat hanger they pack a punch. I need to get to the hardware store and pick up some conduit. The 40cal tubes just don't have the power that you an get with a larger cal tubes. They are fun and with the right darts can put a hurtin on small game.

That's very cool. When I was a kid I had a 50" gun, I don't know the diameter. I had pointy tips aka target tips and 3 blade mini broadheads. I killed a few birds out of trees or on the ground but for some reason the squirrels and rabbits got away, some with a dart in them and some the dart hit but came back out. I quit using it because of that. Now you've got me thinking about it again....
PillHer has used hers on a few rodents in the area. 2 inches of dart in a mouse pretty quickly stops the mouse's career.

When the Army sent me to Honduras we fashioned a blowgun from a hospital IV pole and
18ga needles. Deadly accurate, too. We shot at dartboards and rats. The moving targets
were way more fun.

I didn't fail the test, I just found 100 ways to do it wrong.
After much reading online this week I decided to make a blowgun. I used a 10' section of 1/2 ( actual ID measured .62 on my calipers) galvanized steel electrical conduit cut down to 6'. The mouth piece I made from a chunk of scrap 4X4 I had in the garage from another project.
Here is the end result.
I only made up one dart this evening but the difference is night and day compared to my store bought .40cal. It is much easier to move air thru the larger tube and it has a lot more power even with darts of the same weight.
Once I get a chance to get some more darts made up I will post a range ( read garage) report.
