What size cast bullet?

Post by Bob A »

I just slugged my microgroove 336 30-30 and it measures .309. Seems pretty consistent with .309 at the muzzel and the breech. I didn't measure the throat. What size lead bullets would you try .310 or .311?
I have loaded and shot some .311 lead that was given to me but I have never really tried to find an accurate load with lead. Where would you start?

YEP, I AGREE WITH TYCER, .311" IS JUST FINE. THAT .001" ON A SIDE SOLVES A LOT OF PROBLEMS.

I have two Marlins and a Winchester 30/30 that all prefer cast sized .311

If your gun will chamber .311 it should be about perfect.

Best to use Winchester Brass with a .311 lead bullet. Winchester brass has the thinnest neck of all brass. If you have a tight chamber this will help.
