OT Old and new.
Well new and old! Out about last night and I got this feller with the 308 EBR Rem 700.
Buddy got one too with his Sako in 22-250.
Earlier yesterday I had a good find at my local gun store, 200 old Speer mag tips in 308/150grns, £5 a box! $7-$8 me thinks. I wanted FMJ to do a sub load to take small game with but after these being the only option I loaded some of my stock of 170grn 30wcf bullets made by Speer with some H4227 and tried 5 rounds at 50 yds (think I'll save the mag tips!). Result, minute of rabbit head and 3" low so 22clicks up and should be good to go. This should get me out with the EBR a little more to help with the 30wcf itch I keep getting!
That was last nights activities so today after some chores I was out from 11am to dark at 7pm with my musketoon and harvested two pheasants for some good cookin'. Drizzle rain and little wind with the occasional gust. The smoke hung on the air just wonderfull me anxiously peering to see if I connected! To be honest the first bird I missed twice! I think the smoke put him in a trance! If the third had missed I think I would of tipped my hat to him!
Waiting in my natural blind that has given many oppurtunities over the years and near dark my second bird turned up.
Hope you like.
Feel blessed
Nath.

Re: OT Old and new.
Nath,
Looks like the fox didn't enjoy meeting the 308 at all.
It fascinates me that you post more hunting stories, pics and reports than any other forum member except perhaps 86er.
About the only thing I've killed here in IL is wasps. My weapon of choice is Break Clean. One Shot, One Kill.

Re: OT Old and new.
Hey Nath,
Ever thought of doing what the government did and converting the musketoon into a Snider? That way you could reload with shot, ball or bullet in seconds. I have most of the bits if you wanted to give it a try.
Don't know what the firearms licencing people would make of it though.

I don't have the skill for the conversion my self and a little bit of twist would be better too.

I really enjoy those photos!
Kirk: An old geezer who loves the smell of freshly turned earth, old cedar rail fences, wood smoke, a crackling fireplace on a snowy evening, pristine wilderness lakes, the scent of
cedars and a magnificent Whitetail buck framed in the semi-buckhorn sights of a 120-year old Winchester.
