300 Savage Ammo

Post by Mossyoak1957 »

Anyone know why Remington stopped making there 300 Savage 180 gr. ammo w/ the
"Round Nose Bullet" it's all "Pointed Soft Point" now.
I know the pointed bullet has a little more velocity then the round nose but I really liked the round nose for hunting the PA woods.
The round nose bullet was my favorite in my old Savage 99. "1953 99EG"
If anyone knows of some little back country store that has some let me know.

Nice 99! Sounds like it's time for you to start rolling your own. 180 RN bullets are easy to find and dies for the 300 Savage aren't scarce either.

Very nice rifle. Don't shoot 300 Savage so I don't keep my eyes out for it.

I am a fan of those roundnose Rem's also, they give me peace of mind in my autoloader. However, I can still get the Win 180 RN and they have proven to offer equal performance for me. Maybe give them a try!
