I want a .454, any ideas where to get one?

Post by oic0 »

I just put in about 100 hours of over time. There are two guns I really want right now. Well what I REALLY want is a 16 inch .460 lever action but since that doesn't exist I want the ol .454. I would also like a handi .500 but I am thinking the .454 is higher up my list since... well... since the exact issue I am running in to, its hard to find. Anyone know where I might procure one? a million sites come up when I search for it on google price search but all those good for nuffins don't have it in stock and just have it listed as a way to get you in to their site. I would sell my left one for a 16 inch .454 in stainless with wood .

I would buy it on the spot if it were stainless. I would take a blued one, but only if the price were right.
Louisiana, keeping guns from rusting is a never ending battle so stainless is your best friend.

Sounds like you need to step up and buy the big one.

I went ahead and ordered the handi .500. At $260 you really can't beat it. If I ever see a ~450 stainless .454 though, I'm picking it up ASAP even if I have to sell something (but not a gun lol, I never sell guns).

I'm eager to see what a lil 300 grain leverevolution at 2200 - 2300fps will do to a little ol white tail.

I bought a .500 Handi last year.
It is a lot of fun with cast bullets & black powder.
The plastic sight are junk.
I put a Williams peep on mine.

Since a 240 grain JSP at 1800 fps pretty much drops them where they stand, I'm not sure you'll really need that extra power, but those .500 Handi-rifles ARE fun to shoot.

I keep thinking I'd like to load up some .50 cal sabots and shoot 180 gr. .358 bullets out of them...

No sensible reason, though, because then I'd just be shooting a .35 Remington under another name...

I don't know how much you want to spend on a stainless Rossi in 454 but I have a new 20" that has all the bells and whistles.
It will look much like this one.

It should be ready to ship soon. If you are interested let me know.
