Didn't have time to load any black powder loads so had to make do with some smokeless rounds that a friend gave me. My first 4-shot string gave me this:-
So I quit while I was ahead, ramped up the rearsight a bit and went off to the match.
The Burgess functioned flawlessly and hit everything I fired it at, which is more than I can say for my pistols.
I am normally a black powder exclusive shooter so I need to try the accuracy with BP loads. I am little concerned about fouling blow-by with 0.45 Colt so I intend to load 5 different makes of brass with BP so see if any brand works better than others.
Meanwhile, 0.45 Colt asked for some closeups of the action:
The bolt is massive but I can't see how it locks up. The lever operated trigger block can be seen just behind the trigger.
The ejction port is small but is sealed by the closed bolt.
I need to figure out how to disassemble it in case I get powder residue in the action.
