Hi fellow levergunners. Going to the well again, but need some quick prayers for my Mother. She was at Mass this evening and started getting severe chest pains. Her husband took her to the emergency room and called me, and I just spent the last few hours there. Fortunately the EKG results were good. We're waiting on the CAT scan of her chest. They are thinking pneumonia or severe bronchitis. She had the former a decade ago, and then got a staph infection while at the hospital and almost died. She's been on oxygen ever since, so anything to do with the lungs/breathing is serious. I'm back home as they are not sure when she'll have the CAT scan and she insisted I go. Please say a quick prayer that this is something some meds can handle and she gets to come home soon.

Prayers sent. Infections acquired in hospitals are usually bad because they are more resistant to common antibiotics. This resistance is due to several fairly simple causes, but it makes them harder to cure. AJMD429 would agree with me, I'm sure, about the hospital acquired ones. Anyway, I have asked in my prayer that your Mother not need to stay in the hospital.

Thanks all for your prayers. Once again, they worked. The CAT scan came back negative for pneumonia. The hospital prescribed some medication for a severe case of bronchitis. Still a concern, given her overall health, but she got to come home without having to spend a single night at the hospital, so she was very happy. She rested today, and will continue doing so for the next few days at least. Please keep the prayers coming!
