OT: Prayer Request for my best friend's Son-UPDATE

Post by C. Cash »

My best buddy here has a 3 year old son who got croup...really bad croup. He stopped breathing in the local ER but is still alive. He was transported to the big league Pediatric ICU where he is unconcious(sedated) and on a ventilator. Don't know any more than that yet. His name is Elliot and his parents are Craig and Wendy Rose. I would appreciate you all praying for his son/family.

Absolutley.
There but for the grace of God goes my boy. He was diagnosed with croup and responded well to meds. Up and around in a few days.

Hi Fellas, Just got an email update: THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS. I will print this out for him and take it over when he gets back home :)

Hello everyone- good news!!
Eli had a restless night because they took him off
the paralytic drug, but
all went well with lungs, breathing and xray. And
being restless
helped him cough up some of the stuff in his lungs.
So they took
him off all the meds this morning. He woke up and
looked at me
and said a clear audible "NO!" which is very
impressive with a tube
through your voice box! We told him he was in the
hospital and asked
if he remembered going to the hospital. He shook his
head yes just
barely. I asked him again and he shook his head yes.
Later they
pulled the tubes for the ventilator and for feeding
and he seems to
be resting quite peacefully right now. He's breathing
well and not
agitated about his IVs or anything yet. We'll likely
be in ICU for
another night although the dr said MAYBE up to the
regular ward later
tonight?
Thanks for all your prayers and support.
Craig

Just got another update(he had read all of your messages on the prayer request) My heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you:

Chris-
This was great- had a lot of fun reading them.
Eli is doing better- got off the ventilator Sunday
and allowed to wake up, but he is still very doped up
(hallucinating) and pretty scared- one of us has be be
with him all the time, in case he wakes up. If he
starts eating more he might be going home in a couple
days. A real answer to prayers!
Talk to you soon.
Craig

The last update here, and Thanks and Glory to God for his mercy, and to all of you for taking time out to pray. :D

"Hello everyone-
Some of you know what has been going on, some of
you don't- I honestly don't remember who all I've been
in contact with so let me give a brief overview:
A week ago this past Tuesday, Eli, our three year
old, had a severe case of the croup. By the time
Wendy got him to the ER his fingertips were blue. He
didn't respond to treatments, his oxygen count dropped
and he stopped breathing. They intubated and sedated
him and each of his breathes was dependent on someone
squeezing a blue balloon attached to his tube. They
transferred him to the Danville Pediatric ICU and kept
him sedated, paralyzed and on a ventilator for the
next 4 and a half days. His pulse would drop, his
blood pressure would shoot up, his lungs filled with
fluid. And then he started to get better. Sunday he
was extubated and was released yesterday Thursday),
after the hallucinations and shaking stopped from all
the drugs in his system, and he was able to start
sleeping and eating more.
So we're home now, though Eli is still very weak
and scared- all of us are catching up on our sleep.
We are so thankful to God, to the nurses and
doctors, and all of our friends and family for the
prayers and support.
Craig
