OT: Job Opportunity - Ranch Manager/ Hunt Foreman

Post by 86er »

Can you operate basic farm equipment?

Do you know very basic plumbing, use of hand tools and light power equipment?

Would you like to manage, transport, tranquilize, release and monitor big game animals?

Are you good with people and able to create a good impression and form lasting relations?

Would you like to learn how to judge trophy big game and guide hunts?

I have a job for you.

Live in a 3 BR/2BA house, all utilities, cell phone, truck with gas card, satellite TV, ocassional meals, medical coverage. You may live here with your significant other or family at no cost to you. Compensation is approximately $200 cash plus tips per week. Package value is around $60,000 annual. Incrementally higher based on experience.

Take care of my South Texas 1000 acre ranch, guide and coordinate hunts on the ranch and elsewhere, conduct PR and advertising at trade shows.

No experience necessary.

Send a resume to:

WOW, that would be a great job.

I sent in a resume for a job one time. They told me they would pay me what I was worth..... I thought about it and told them I don't work that cheap    .

Good luck Joe, I sure you will find the right person.

If I was a single man, I'd be all over that. I casually mentioned it to my wife and it would appear south Texas holds no appeal for her. :D

Well, if it were not for the part about getting along with people, I could apply. Also, did you mention working with/for Richard?

I'm sure somebody around here is probably qualified for that, not me though.

Good luck with the search.

I was a maintenance and construction superintendent for Honolulu, and I can rough in plumbing, frame a house and do electrical, a jack of all trades, and I love the outdoors. Sounds like a dream job especially since no more family here in Hawaii. Hard part would be convincing wife to move away from her aging parents though she does have 3 brothers here to look after them later on in life. I know whoever gets this job will be in hog heaven. Best wishes to all applicants.

In one year, six months, and 6 days (not that I'm counting) I will be retiring early. Why couldn't it be now?

Cubrock;
The ranch is just 2-3 mile south of Hondo, which is between San Antonio and Uvalde.

Maybe she sees a wealth of conversation subjects coming from such employment? I can see your boys there now...

What a deal! Heck, I wish I was either younger or older!.. OK, younger. But what a deal! You have to love the folks on this site. Can argue and spit all day long but always doing great things or giving great opportunities for one another! :D

Ha ha... I can do all that and more, but I could never convince the wife to move.

I'm adding it to the "O, to be single..." list.

So far:

1:) Be pirates in the Carribbean, (A cousin of mine offered a spot on his 55ft tri-maran and all food and drink included just to be first mate. -Too bad I had a pregnant wife at the time!

2:) Move to Alaska and pan gold.

3:) Move to Hawaii and be a paramedic there. (This would involve being single and an orphan, as family visits would be once in a lifetime,)

4:) Game Ranch Manager for 86er. To plant enough food to eat, so long as I could cull hunt when the meat stores got low.

Say, would a horse be included?

Oh, if this had only come up 25 yrs ago. I spent many hours in the seat of a tractor working my Granpa's farm, and his small herd of herefords. Then I was trained in the plumbers and pipefitters union after high school. I have always loved the outdoors hunting, fishing and camping. But now at 57 yrs old and looking forward to retirement in a couple of yrs, I wouldn't be a good candidate.
