OT - Nicknames

Post by Gun Smith »

Over the years many firearms have earned a nickname describing their use, looks, reputation, etc.

Here are a few I thought of. What are they, and how many more can you come up with?

"Be not afraid of any man no matter what his size. When danger threatens call on me and I will equalize!"

"The Gun That Won The West."

"The Most Powerful Handgun In The World!"

"Load it on Sunday and shoot it all week."

Chopper.

Grease Gun.

Gambler's gun.

Hog leg.

Yellowboy.

Humpback.

Oh, and here's one you can identify by it's sound.
Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, babg, bang, ping!

The Winchester Model 1876 is nicknamed 'The Centennial', due to its release in 1876, the USA centennial.
Kirk: An old geezer who loves the smell of freshly turned earth, old cedar rail fences, wood smoke, a crackling fireplace on a snowy evening, pristine wilderness lakes, the scent of
cedars and a magnificent Whitetail buck framed in the semi-buckhorn sights of a 120-year old Winchester.

Jr. has a single shot H&R we refer to as "Old Faithful" cause he seems to never miss with it.

He'll miss with his 870 or even a second H&R he bought to carry in his truck but "Old Faithful" has never let us down.

The M-60 is called "The Pig" in Infantry circles.

awp101,

'Be not afraid ........". Colt SAA.

"The gun that.....". Winchester 1873.

Spencer may be right. But I always thought that the Henry was described by
Confederate soldiers as "the gun you load on Sunday and shoot all week".

hog leg. I was refering to long barreled holstered pistols in general.

Well done!

Um, We seem to be forgetting a big 'un. Sam Colt's little Masterpiece was long known as "The Equalizer", wasn't it?
