John Deere Buckboard Farm Wagon/1892 Trapper- PICs

Post by Jarhead »

I thought you fella's might get a kick out of this ole' farm wagon. I paid $1600 for it and it's all original and unmolested. The running gear is Moline....good stuff. I plan on getting a mule to pull it. It came with an Alaska license plate..! :D

I'm holding my 1892 Winchester Trapper in the photo...just for kicks 8)

Now that's pretty darn cool. What vintage do you think it might be?

Excellent. You'll have a lot of fun with that old Buckboard.

cedars and a magnificent Whitetail buck framed in the semi-buckhorn sights of a 120-year old Winchester.

Very cool indeed. On the second pic, if you left out the Dodge and the plastic jug, I could have taken that pic to be 1878, give or take a few years.

Now, how cool is that! I could just see myself in some of my riding gear sitting beside you on the seat of that buckboard for a picture.

That's cool. I have an original "Soil Culture and Modern Farm Methods - Issued by the Soil Culture Department of DEERE & COMPANY", Compliments of Dr. W.E. Taylor, Director of the Soil Culture Department, DEERE & COMPANY, with B&W photos of modern horse-drawn Deere Implements.

Even tells you how to get all of the modern conveniences of the city for the wife by installing a septic tank & using a gasoline engine to pump your water. :o

There are some coupons inside to get additional copies for $0.25

I wonder if they would honor them? :?

(Probably not, since it is available online here: http://www.archive.org/details/soilcult ... 00taylrich )

I maintain a small town house in Vancouver, WA. , so have my vehicle licensed in WA., but that's going to change soon. My Cabin will be framed and up by the end of June 2010. I have been spending time on the "Eastern Oregon Homestead" off and on, but moving there for good very soon.

Not sure what kind of Mule I'll get, but I plan on looking for one next Spring.

Mike,
Thanks for the info.
Another question; where and how do they mark wooden wagons and the running gear? I've never been close enough to get a look see at one.

Joe,

Moline Wagon Company is written in black in two locations above the rear axle below the box.
John Deere and the Moline Wagon Company worked together, and John Deere eventually bought the Wagon company.

I was told not to paint it and keep it original... boiled linseed oil is used as a perservative...I was told that by the Wagon folks..
