Grew up in Mount Airy - bought my first M94 30-30 from Eaton's Watch and Gun Shop in 1977. Went to college in Richmond, VA that fall and the M94 and an Ithaca pumpgun were stolen in a break in that fall. I still live in Richmond and am contemplating moving back to NW NC or SW VA when I retire from law enforcement.
Tycer, I attended Mars Hill College in the 1976/77 school year - one of the most beautiful places I've lived!

...hopefully in the not too distant future! I just love NC...mountains to the left, beach to the right. -perfection.
I'll be retiring in 3 years, so I'm 'casually' looking around the state. I want a few acres, somewhere I can go in my back yard and try out a new cartridge load if I want to without a neighbor calling the cops on me! :D

Yep - got hired to pastor a church near Winston Salem. I won't be moving until the end of the school year. Hopefully won't move after that for a LONG time!

Gosh, there's quite a few of us! Perhaps we should plan some sort of rendezvous sometime and do some shooting.

Any of y'all planning on going to the gun show in Raleigh next weekend? I hope to go and hunt up a new revolver.

I'm in Jacksonville by Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune on the eastern coast close to Wilmington. I was well on my way into levergunning addiction with a Marlin guide gun and a Henry .22 for the kids until some imbecil broke in and cleaned me out. Insurance had a $2,000 cap so roughly 20% of what was taken. Still looking for a lever or 2 to get back into things. I like the 1895 Marlin SBL and something in 357 for the kids.

Well I live in Georgia but shop and the range is in NC. Murphy, it is just about as far west in NC you can go before hitting TN way deep in the mountains.
Yes, I know it's cocked, It's got bullets too.

Enjoyed a ride through Mt. Airy once on my way from Va. to Blowing Rock. Had to see where Andy came from. I see we are both in Richmond. Guess you know your way around Green Top, Gander and Bass Pro. I don't do much shooting in Richmond as I save it for when I'm in Blowing Rock. I'm fairly new to this board. Are there any Richmonders on the board who get together and shoot locally?

Sorry, topside, bad reading on my part. I'm not aware of a "Levergunners group shoot", but that is a great idea, especially for us "Old North State"refugees to get together and count all the times we native North Carolinians have been told the joke about the three R's since we have lived in Va.!
